WALKING WITH NATURE

ETHICAL WILDERNESS: PASSIONATE ABOUT WELLBEING

Eternal Mountain began with the basic and inspirational idea of how individual and community, can rediscover their connection with nature through the act of walking and mindfulness. Helping us humans, see the delicate relationship between our connection and walking as a real way for improving quality of life. Thus, bringing the relationship between today's climate crisis and human crisis closer together. We see walking as the best holistic and ethical example for self-transformation, with a renewed focus on wellbeing and for the community as a whole in finding new ways of being in our challenging world; whether that be for social or economic purposes now and into the future.

Here at Eternal Mountain, one of our daily aims is therefore to promote walking and environment that can improve and sustain mental health, as well as physical fitness. Walking that can provide creative ideas and new ways of working in the work place, or at home. Walking that can release stress or anxiety. Walking that can unify the connection between individual and their local landscape. Walking that can improve self-esteem and therefore everyday confidence. Walking that brings individual and community closer together. Walking that can help individual and community communicate better. Walking that genuinely make us humans feel alive and well again. Walking that can improve quality of life for you and everyone around you - right now.

SOCIAL ENTERPRISE: A PRESENCE IN THE WORLD AND OUR COMMUNITY

Eternal Mountain is very passionate about the wellbeing of our visitors, fundamentally with their experience - in the hope that they will return.  Hence why we have created tours that not only can make a difference to people's lives when visiting but can meet the needs of everyone whatever stage they might be in life (all our tours incorporate a holistic approach to wellbeing). This is why we have extended our passion within our community, so that everyone can feel and discover that they have a platform for authentic information that can truly help members transform their lives and that of others - all making for a better world. For example, we offer a range of courses that combine therapy and counselling through the act of walking as pathways to personal growth, 'creative enhancement' and 'many other routes to the reconciliation of body, mind and spirit.' (Smith & Kelly, 2006). Serving your community as best as you can is therefore an honour. Yes, everyone has different views, opinions (this is welcomed) and beliefs about how things should be in their community but here at Eternal Mountain we only want to be a force for good, helping not only community members but when a crisis occurs we are here to help the whole community as best as we can. Every community today needs a new socio-economic infrastructure, being and becoming more resilient for the serious challenges that lie ahead. Acknowledging these challenges, we therefore face, is the beginning process for a more sustainable and liveable world. Hence why Eternal Mountain chose to be a social enterprise to make the difference and inspire others about living in the world (we have no shareholders at Eternal Mountain).

TRANSCENDING THE WORLD... TECHNOLOGY

Eternal Mountain embraces the use of today's technology as a way to help transcend the world. Or, rather what might be now our only way of sustaining the planet through the immediate access of quality (therefore ethical) information on possible solutions. We therefore see and use drones, headphones and cameras for example as simple tools for improving quality of life, whether the focus is for self-transformation, net-zero creativity, visitor experience, or for the benefit of our community.

VALUE OF NATURE...

Eternal Mountain is about more than just being a walking tour guide business of the Breadalbane area, rather from a sustainable-perspective, we put nature first at the heart of our local economy today. Therefore, we see being an eco, wellness and fitness tour guide enterprise (and so much more) as the beginning process of inspiring others and putting words into action. Bringing history and people together, from all over the world that come to visit Callander and other parts of Scotland. It is also about having a renewed appreciation of nature, rather than the dogmatic perspective of seeing nature at 'our disposal' and as a way to exploit. Crucially, it is about remembering that nature supports all forms of life, each life being essential to the other. And, importantly, recognising that the climate crisis is not going to go away – it will remain an issue for some time, until we take real action. Eternal Mountain is therefore in many ways an ethical statement, not just about putting nature first, but also about the opportunity to create ethical job roles within our communities, that are low-carbon and therefore less damaging to our planet.
